Overview
Hunt Area 95, Green River, runs from the Green River valley floor near Cora and Daniel east and north up the west slope of the Wind River Range to the mountaintop divide, taking in the upper Green drainage toward Green River Lakes. It is part of the Upper Green River elk herd. Terrain is gently contoured ranchland and sage on the valley floor and turns steep, timbered and rugged as it climbs to timberline around 10,000 feet and the alpine crest of the Bridger Wilderness. Elk are the draw and the unit produces good branch-antlered bulls, with strong Sublette mule deer, Shiras moose, black bear and cougar sharing the country. Much of the high ground lies inside designated wilderness — a major access consideration for nonresidents.

Broad sage-and-hay valley floor along the Green River rising through timbered benches and canyons to steep alpine ridges and the Continental Divide crest of the Wind River Range; timberline near 10,000 feet.

Access
Mostly Bridger-Teton National Forest — including a large slice of the Bridger Wilderness — with BLM lower down and significant private ranchland on the Green River valley floor around Cora and Daniel. This is not the southern Wyoming checkerboard, but the valley bottom is heavily deeded; map land status and get permission there. Critically, under Wyoming law nonresidents may not hunt big or trophy game in designated wilderness without a licensed guide or a resident companion — a large share of the elk country here is wilderness.

Carry backcountry gear for the wilderness reaches and check BLM/Forest/WGFD offices in Pinedale for access and land status.
